Because they squeeze the toes together and put an unnatural load on parts of the forefoot, high heels have a reputation of being terrible to wear. A rarely shared medical truth, Cinderella’s slipper really can lead to a happily ever after. Shoes with slightly higher heels are not only okay, but therapeutic for certain specific foot problems. Common complaints of Achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis can feel better when you are dressed to the 9’s. As mentioned above, heels take pressure off of the rear foot and place it on the forefoot. In truth, there are better choices than Jimmy Choo’s shoes to fix your blues, but relief can be found by pumping up the height of your heel.

So the next time you get advised to dump your Diors, make sure the fix isn’t just flats and ask your pump peddling Podiatrist if heels can heal your pain.
