So you’ve heard of tummy tucks, liposuction and Botox injections, but the newest procedure to amplify beauty might seem a bit beneath you! It gives a full makeover to those ten little piggies of yours!

For many women it is natural, especially in open-toe shoe seasons, to get frequent pedicures. For men or women who battle with chronic toenail fungus or ingrown toenails, this season can cause anxiety as they feel their toes may be unsightly. As a former “chubby little kid” I understand the anxiety of swimsuit season!

A new technology has been developed to assist people with unsightly toenails. Keryflex is a product, exclusive to podiatrists, that can not only help treat toenail fungus and ingrown toenails, but can also mask the short term appearance while being treated! Keryflex is similar to enamels used by dentists for crowns and implants. As with dental enamel the Keryflex is applied as a resin, then bond and cured under UV light. After smoothing and shaping to give the enamel nail a more natural appearance, a sealant is applied and smoothed. This resin comes in three shades: natural, opaque and clear.

For people with unsightly toenails, the Keryflex Nail Restoration System is for those with unsightly nails or ingrown toenails that need treatment but do not want to have unsightly nails during treatment. For nails with fungal infections, Keryflex allows the podiatrist to remove a large portion of the fungal nail. The enamel is then placed over the remaining toenail to give a natural-looking appearance. Healthy, anti-fungal nail polishes like Dr.’s Remedy, can then be applied for cosmetic pleasure. It is recommended to utilize Keryflex while on oral anti-fungal treatment.

Normal acrylic nails and common nail polishes allow moisture to enter between the polish and the nail. This moisture provides an environment suited for fungus and bacteria. Keryflex bonds directly onto the nail plate or nail bed and doesn’t permit any moisture or microorganisms to flourish underneath.

For patients with chronic ingrown toenails, Keryflex provides an option that allows treatment without sacrificing cosmetic appeal. Ingrown nails can be removed either partially or fully, temporarily or permanently. If the toenail is removed temporarily, Keryflex can be applied while the nail regrows over 6-9 months. For permanent toenail removal, Keryflex can give the patient a normal, beautiful nail that will not result in chronic ingrown or infected nails.

For these summer months and those who love open-toe shoes, there is finally an answer! Keryflex Toenail Restoration System can provide aesthetic answers to fungal toenail infections and chronic ingrown toenails.
